Maine Boat Builder Launches a Custom-built yacht for a Solo-Sailor

A Maine boatbuilder especially made a custom-built yacht designed by Farr Yacht Designs for a Florida man planning a solo-sail around the world.

On 1st November 2012, the Kiwi Spirit was revealed at Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding in Thomaston. It is a sleek 63-foot vessel, described as one of the fastest mono-hulled yachts in the world.

Stanley Paris, a 76-year-old man of St. Augustine, Florida, is utmost excited about a record 120 days voyage and plans to use his yacht for a solo circumnavigation beginning in November 2013.

To back clean energy, Paris will use solar panels, two wind generators and four water generators with energy stored in lithium-ion phosphate batteries and won’t make use of hydrocarbons.
