Finnish yard Nautor’s Swan recently revealed the first in-build photos of its new blue-water Swan 78 sailing yacht series. Designer Germán Frers has meticulously designed the Swan 78 in collaboration with Nautor’s Swan and he reiterated that Swans were special because of the way that they were built, designed, and the people that sailed them.
The 23.99-metre luxury sailing yacht, a direct descendant of the Swan 80 and 82 models, is already popular with two hulls sold to first-time Nautor’s Swan owners in December 2016. The delivery is reported to be scheduled for Spring 2018.
Enrico Chieffi, Vice President at Nautor’s Swan said that they were investing in developing new, innovative beautiful seaworthy yachts and added that the market was increasing quickly for them.
The Swan 78 is reportedly beamier and more powerful and is featured with contemporary hull lines, uncluttered surfaces and deck layout with simple sail handling solutions. These include five electric winches which are close to the help stations and are ideal for owners who enjoy cruising with a smaller crew.
The cockpit has two C-shaped settees, each having its own table and wide sprayhood. The large opening transom can reportedly create a four-metre wide swim platform. Although, the Swan 78 has fixed deep and shallow keels available, the yacht is equipped with twin rudders and a telescoping lifting keel. The yacht can be customised, and the owner’s cabin can be conveniently placed either in the transom or the bow. The configurations are featured to include spacious main saloon amidships, a double cabin, and two twin cabins, which can house around eight guests. Meanwhile, the crew quarters can house a staff of two.
The hull sections are designed to preserve symmetry and strikes a balance between performance and sea-kindliness. Meanwhile, the deck layout is featured with the Semi-raised Saloon concept and the interiors spell top quality with a wide choice of veneers and accessories.
