Cruise cancellations have skyrocketed in the last few months because of Coronavirus. With many affected passengers, future cruise credits (FCCs) and refunds by cruise lines are proving really helpful.
What is a future cruise credit?
FCCs are analogous to gift vouchers. It is a voucher with a monetary amount allocated that is valid for future travel. Passengers can use it to book a future cruise with the issuing cruise line. FCCs have recently been issued when a cruise line cancels one of its voyages or has significant changes to the itinerary.
How to use your credit, demystifying line by line?
Cruise lines have some super-cool offers, with some offering 125% of value to boost passenger loyalty. Here is a sneak peek at how to use your credit.
Patrons who are affected by any MSC cancellation can expect to receive future cruise credit. One can look out for the credit to be emailed either directly or via the travel agent. The cruise line’s website has a form that guests can use for rebooking using FCC. Plus, one can get in touch with the MSC contact centre.
Carnival Cruise Line
The Carnival Cruise Line’s FCC will be applied to your profile (if chosen). Plus, the additional on board credit is added to your profile, which you can use when you are next on board. Passengers can enjoy either 100% cruise credit and on board credit or a 100% refund. To redeem the credit, one can choose either the online mode or contacting over the phone.
Norwegian Cruise Lines
All FCC must be redeemed within a year from the issue date (or as updated officially) for the Norwegian Cruise Line. FCCs are applied to the guests’ Latitudes number. Once the FCC has been added it would be communicated to either the passenger or the travel agent. The credit can further be used for new bookings. Guests can contact the Norwegian team either via phone or email to use the credit.
Celebrity Cruises allows guests the option of cruise credit on new and previous bookings. For guests with a previous booking, one needs to retrieve the booking online and enter the credit certification code. For new cruise purchases, guests need to enter the Certification Code on the Guest Information page. One can also book for the cruise without a deposit, and expect the value of the credit to be applied within 48 hours.
Credit from the cruise line is directly applied to a guest’s profile automatically. Furthermore, it can be used to book cruises from there.
