The SolarCat 64 popularly known as ‘the Tesla of the Seas’ is an eco-friendly catamaran with a difference. The luxury yacht is engineered solely on the electric solar operation and can reportedly cruise around the globe without using one litre of fuel. Swedish yacht designer, Dennis Ingemansson and Turkey-based Ned Ship Group’s SolarCat 64 are a ‘Solar Dream’, a futuristic, solar-powered yacht that is featured with a solar cell area, a hybrid propulsion solution with additional e-engines for slow cruising.
The luxury yacht created in 2016 is quite a revolution providing a lifestyle to their owners that have never been seen before. The yacht showcases a new solar panel roof, which augments the luxury. Featured with a trendy design, it is available for fractional ownership. Furthermore, the yacht is self-powered and based on Zero-emission propulsion.
Sailing the SolarCat 64 is a wonderful experience, where yacht-lovers can enjoy a new smart and luxurious way of sailing. The yacht is 19.43 metres (64 ft) and has around 3-5 spacious cabins. Furthermore, there are myriad sun-lounging spaces, a retractable sundeck rook, and avant-garde interiors. The yacht is featured with a beam of 9.50 metres, and a draft of 0.80 metres. And, the solar panels on the yacht’s roof can produce the necessary power to drive the motor of the yacht and all the appliances on board.
The vessel has a beautiful blend of a carbon composite hull design and a solar energy system that ensures noiseless cruising with emissions. The cruising speeds are 6.2kn and comply with high European standards, like utilising innovative techniques with materials like composite, carbon, and steel. The SolarCat 64 is featured with three guest rooms and can house around 10 people, and has luxe dual owner suites. Moreover, the control room can house around four crew members in addition to the captain. It is no wonder that with the low levels of sound, and the absence of oil film on water, the yachting experience is not only eco-friendly but also lavish.
